Hi! I'm running win98 SE. After installing Norton Antivirus 2004 my modem crashed and I had to replace it. the problem now is Norton will not install! I keep getting a error when I install the disk, and I cannot enter my product key. Why? Can you help?

A better idea would be to forget about installing Norton altogether and go here http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 and get the excellent free AV from them, its used by thousands of people worldwide, and is arguably better than Norton anyway ( less problems) plus it updates almost daily....if you do decide to get it remember to update it before running it ......

I agree 100%. I dumped Norton after several years and installed AVG. Be sure you uninstall Norton properly tho, if you do this. They have specific procedures which make it difficult to get rid of all of Norton - think it is on purpose so you won't drop them - lol.

After you run all of Nortons "removal" tools, it still leaves a lot of garbage in your registry.

Registry cleaners may get some or maybe most of it though.

I took all Norton products off my computer two years ago and it runs much better. Had to manually delete 200-300 registry entries that were not removed by their removers and registry cleaners. Registry cleaners now seem to be more thorough so maybe you will have better luck than me.
