    Hello,

Something is really annoying me with Windows Explorer. It keeps disappearing! And I did nothing to make it disappear (the task bar and all the icons disappear too). At the beginning, I thought it was everytime I wanted to update the small previews that appear in the folder icon, but now it is getting worst: I just do nothing and ...gone.
This seems to only happen on the partition I did from my Harddrive which is called E:.
Another thing I might have to say is that I installed almost all Windows XP updates....maybe one of the updates made things worst. In fact I don't know,
that's why if somebody could help on that, I would appreciate it.

    Thank you in advance

    ;)

Welcome to TSG! You can RIGHT click My Computer and choose Manage. From there you can check the Event Viewer's Application and Sytem logs for any errors and what they are. If you suspect a recent update, try System Restore and go back to a point before the update.

    Thank you Emtronics! ;)

I had no error messages when the windows explorer was disapearing and I didn't find anything particular.

I cannot use this function because I disabled it on purpose...it seemed to be a reason of not being able to delete trojan I had on my computer (several times in a week).

    Any other ideas?

Well, if you got infected by a trojan or a virus in XP, then you have to disable System Restore, shutdown, then restart. Once back up and the system is clean, you should re-enable System Restore. Most A/V's will clean a trojan (as in your case) but then will report it again because of System Restore. The A/V can not clean this out so the only way is to turn off System Restore. You lose your restore points but that's the price one pays to get rid of an infection which is why in todays internet a good, up-to-date A/V is a must! You should enable System Restore ASAP. It is a valuable tool in XP. Please go HERE and get an A/V for FREE if you don't have one. IMO, this is one of the best out there and they are offering it for free. It sounds like you may still be infected. Post back and let us know.... (y)
