    • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
    • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
    • Click on Install.
    • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
    • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
    • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
    • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

    They are definitely Toshiba related.

I would start by disabling all the Toshiba related items from Startup.

    Go to Start > Run
    Type in msconfig
    Hit OK
Go to the Startup tab and uncheck these entries:

    [TDispVol] TDispVol.exe

    [THotkey] C:\Program Files\Toshiba\Toshiba Applet\thotkey.exe

    [Tvs] C:\Program Files\Toshiba\Tvs\TvsTray.exe

    [TPSMain] TPSMain.exe

    [SmoothView] C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSHIBA Zooming Utility\SmoothView.exe

    [TOSCDSPD] C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSCDSPD\toscdspd.exe

    Click Apply, then OK

    Restart the PC.

Note: It's possible that programs such as SpyBot or SuperAntispyware may prohibit these changes.
They may need to be turned off before you uncheck those items.

Another note: You appear to have 2 anti-virus programs running at the same time. Norton and AVG.
You only need 1. This can cause conflicts having more than 1.

Thesw two files have a "Bad Image".

    [TDispVol] TDispVol.exe

    [TPSMain] TPSMain.exe

I have removed the from the start. I now have to figure out how to replace them from the Toshiba download site..

Akso, I went to uninstall AVG, there was no entry in Add-Remove Programs for it, I also wish I could remove

the "Bing" and MSN startups that Microsoft has forced on IE 8.

    Thanks again,

    JWmedia

Run Hijack This and click Open the Misc Tools section.
Click Open Uninstall Manager > Save list and save the log to your Desktop.
A list of programs will open in Notepad. Post the contents of this log.

No, it is a addon that Microsoft put in with an IE8 update, it adds Bing and MSN sties to the
IE8 favorites, puts a Bing site in the program director, it a very irritating add on and not agood idea on their part, it also can invade Firefox.

    Thanks,

    JWmedia
