    Good day:
I seem to be having problems with my computer. I have had to format my harddrive 3 times now, don't mind doing that but re-installing programs is a pain. Now, however, I seem to be having problems shutting down the computer. I just "sits" there looking at me and doing nothing. I have to "physically" shut down the comp. That is hold down the power button until it turns off. any suggestions will be appreciated. I am operating windows XP and the computer is only 3 years old.
    Thanks in advance

Try scheduling a task in the task scheduler that will shutdown the computer.

    Using this: as your taks:

    c:\Windows\system32\shutdown.exe -r -t 00

See if that will shut it down. That will narrow down the problems.
