problems with direct connection

    I am trying to connect mine and my fathers gateway computers together for file and printer shareing useing a usb to usb connecter. i am told this can be done but i am haveing doubts.Am i on a wild goose chase?

    You can't wire the USB ports together directly, you need a special hub that does the trick. I've never used them, but I see them at times on various shelves. FWIW, I think you've be much better off using NIC's and standard networking. You can also get a USB to Ethernet adapter pretty cheaply.
