Hi, It's been a while, but I'm back - with a probem, of course.

My current computer is an HP Envy 17-in Lapytop, with Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 Bit

My printer is an old HP Deskjet 940 C

My Problem: I am unable to print wit this, tho I could in the past. Under "Control Panel", it shows my printer as HP deskjet 940 C. then it shows "Printer Offline"

So, How do I get it "Online" so I can print again?

"Offline" simply means the computer cannot communicate with the printer.

How is it connected?

If it's directly connected (ie: USB cable), you may need to uninstall the HP software/drivers, reboot, and then perform a fresh install.

Is the printer connected directly to the laptop, or to another computer or to a router?

I have a second HP 940C printer with a problem. When I hook it up and turn it on, the orange light at the left starts blinking. Then, when I open the lid, the printer heads move to the left and stops on a frown-faced indicator. The printer is then unable to respond to any print commands.

On Devices and Printers, I tried to print a test page. Of course, with the printer still flashing its light, nothing happens.

How do I get the printer head away from the blinking status to the smiley face on the right side?

The HP Deskjet 940C printer was introduced in 2001 and has driver support only for Windows XP.

It has no driver support for Windows Vista or Windows 7 or Windows 8.
