Solved Problems with NoScript

When I update Firefox to 76.0.1 and my extensions to the latest updates, I find that in a NoScript window as shown below, the default setting is highlighted in yellow.
My Firefox browser ( or NoScript) will become unstable and not hold a temporary setting, often reverting back to the default.
After a couple days, the menu order ,when I right click the browser window, changes with NoScript and Ublock trading places.

I googled for this issue but found no results.

Anyone know about this?

I'm also having trouble writing this post.
Several times at the end of a sentence, when I want to start a new paragraph, the cursor
disappears and the keyboard is unresponsive for a while.

Sorry.....I'm going to have to reset my system back to a saved configuration.
I am even losing elements of this post when I try to upload images of the problem.
Below is an image I uploaded and after at least half my post disappeared.
I'll return shortly.

For one thing you need to enable Javascript for TSG for the page to render properly. I have TSG set to Trusted to avoid any problems with the display.

I haven't updated Firefox yet because I heard the interface was changed a lot and that some tweaks no longer work like having the Tabs on the bottom.

Hi Karen :D

Until the FF update to 76.0.1 along with an update for Noscript,
I had no issues at TSG.
Generally, most of my bookmarks are set to the default and I change them after I open a site page.
(Remember, I'm on a Live Linux os booting from a flash drive with a write switch so every time I reboot, I have the same exact configuration as when I shut down, and that includes NoScript settings, unless I opt to save them). It's simply a precautionary hassle I'm willing to put up with.

Right now, I have reconfigured my os to settings I saved in March ( an easy thing to do in my situation, simply a save file, no need for an image restore ) and everything works properly.

I have played around with disabling extensions, to the point only NoScript is enabled.
With FF updated to 76.0.1 along with NoScript, I have considerable issues, with or with out NoScript set to Trusted, Temp Trusted or Default.

This may only be an issue with the Linux version of Firefox and NoScript, I haven't gone into my WIN 10 os to find out. And Since I haven't upgraded FF nor extensions in it, I don't intend to for a while.....I don't use it often anyway.

I had never seen yellow highlighting in the NoScript menu till now.
I'd also not had any issues uploading images.
Nor lost any text when trying.
Frustrating to say the least.
And it all happened immediately after updating :D

Fortunately, I can easily go back to previous settings and all is well at the moment.
A good reason to save drive images and/or save files.

When I find out the exact cause I'll post it.

My NoScript shows yellow for TSG which is Trusted.

Strange things are going on with yours but I don't know if it's specific to the Linux version or not.

I really don't know what to say at this point.

The only thing I can now reproduce is the yellow highlight in the NoScript menu when I update it in either FF73 or 76.

Everything looks and acts the same. No issues with writing text.

However, just now as I write, attempted to take a screen shot and crop it, the problem came back.

I'll try to post the image.
Notice the small reply window.

This is awkward, NoScript just changed it's setting to default and posting an inage is a problem

I'll reboot and post it in a couple minutes.

This was the screenshot I was trying to post:

reply window.jpg

It was almost twice that height as I opened my app to crop it, then noticed NoScript had reverted to 'default'.

That's FF76.01
NoScript v 11.0.25 released April 19, 2020

There is a new version out
11.0.26 released May 16.
Previously with my problems, I had updated to thatreply window.jpg most current version.

I think I may need to re-install my Pup.
The save file didn't help after all.
So that's next on my list....tomorrow Grrrr.

That was interesting. My uploaded image was duplicated.
That happened with my first post. I thought I made a mistake and deleted it.

This time, I'll let it stay.

Another testanother test.jpg

Edit: This post was sucessful.
Different version of Puppy Linux (Bionic Pup )and a fresh install with FF 76.0.1 and NoScript 11.026
the newest of updates.

I think I've solved it.
My other Puppy version ( Xenial Pup ) was simply corrupted.
He gets to go to 'Puppy Heaven' :D

I'll test Bionic out for several days just to be sure that was the problem.

Thanks for putting up with me :D

In both of your screenshots in post no. 7 you sould have a multiquote button showing as +Quote between Like and Reply. Are you seeing that now that you fixed the previous issue?

I see the '+QUOTE' button.

I stayed up last night working with my problem and I think I found where most of my problems started.

In the Hardware forum, I posted a problem with a usb flash drive.
I had used it previously to copy/save and later paste back into my os, that save file I spoke of ( it's a folder that has all the accumulations of a changing configuration, like updates and app installs )
I haven't used that drive since I posted that thread in Hardware.
https://forums.techguy.org/threads/is-this-a-flash-drive-going-bad.1244872/

But I noticed last night, with any flashdrive I now tried to download an image from, my os was recognizing, incorrectly, the drive as two drives, sdb and sdb1.
However, there was only the icon for sdb1 on my desktop.
The false drive only appeared when I chose a destination to download from.

Corruption in the os and save file was the problem. Most likely from that defective usb flash drive

I've rebuilt my os, XenialPup, with a known safe 'save file' from February and all is well this morning.

The yellow highlighting was simply a red herring. It comes with recent NoScript updates.

As everything is working properly this morning, I'll mark the thread solved.

For the record, I just discovered that NoScript highlights the first entry in yellow no matter whether it's Trusted or Default.

It'll also highlight any entry you click on. But only highlights one at a time.
Working with the mess I had to deal with, I could highlight more than one.

:D
