alright guys, friends windows XP machine boots up to this blue screen of death error>PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED

safe mode and last known good configuration etc.... boots to same blue screen.

i know that the machine has not been well maintained and the system is badly corrupted.

    ive tried:

    1. chkdsk /p /r but both freeze at 50%
    2.fixboot
3.bootcfg /rebuild <<<< doesnt work due to corrupted files
    4.copied ntldr & ntdetect.com to c: from cd

also wanted to do a repair installation but the option is not there after the "F8 agree" screen, also probably down to a badly corrupted system or partition.

anything else i could probably try???

i think it needs a format and a fresh installation of XP, what do you think? and what does this blue screen error actually mean? its the 1st time ive came across it

    cheers ppl ;)
