I rebooted my machine today and the bios gave me a warning.

Apparently the hardware monitor is stating that the processor is running at 96.5 Celcius.

The machine is not locking up though, could it be a faulty sensor?

Could be but it may be true.

Is this an Intel Processor? Is it running slower then usual?

Open up the case and see if the fan is spinning and if the heatsink is still attached properly. One of the latches may have broken, try to gently wiggle the heatsink, it shouldn't move.

I've seen P4's running that hot when the heatsink bracket had broken. It would freeze after a matter of minutes though.
