I already posted this in the games area...but I thought I'd post it here too cause I'm not sure if it's a problem with the game I'm trying to play or with my computer. Sorry for posting twice :/

I recently bought a new laptop - Acer Aspire 5004WLMi

This laptop has a 1.8GHz processor. Today I bought the game Black & White II. The system reqs for the game say a processor speed of 1.6GHz. I started it up and it doesn't play at all. All the characters have limbs and things out of place and eyeballs floating everywhere, it's ridiculous. Anyway...I shut the game down and looked at my computer properties and it said my processor was at 796MHz. I went to advanced and shut off all the extra fanciness in the performance area and it brought my processor speed back up to 1.8GHz. I tried running the game again and it didn't help at all. So I shut the game down again and I checked my properties again and lo and behold my processor speed was back down to half of what it should be. It goes back up after a few minutes, but I do not understand why it is doing this. I don't know if this is a game-related issue or something to do with my processor. Does anybody have any ideas?

Remember this, Laptops are not intended as gaming computers as a rule. You can buy a notebook or laptop that is built as a gamer but they are extremely expensive. Your laptop may seem to meet the requirements of the game but the video maynot be up to the task

Yes, I don't expect a gaming computer. However after running a few other programs (The Elder Scrolls III and Freelancer and paintshop pro) I noticed that my processor drops just the same. None of these is very demanding. Freelancer requires a processor of 600MHz, and while it plays fair I still get a bit of lag and often find some pictures will not show up. Is it normal for my processor to drop to such a low speed when running a program? Even the less demanding ones?
