Correct me if I am wrong but your machine has an AMD Sempron 3200 Processor, 60GB 4200 rpm Hard Hrive.
The Slow HDD could be the key to a bit more speed. The Standard now is 7200rpm,which would decrease data access time Considerably.
A bit more memory would help as well.
But first find out what your Mainboard is and then you can find out about CPU Support.
Thanks, I'm wanting to upgrade my processor because of windows vista. I have a gig and half of ram and all that and have considered getting a 100 gig hdd. I ran into some problems when installing vista the first go around, so i just converted back over to XP.
Notebooks are not usually "upgradeable" in terms of the CPU.
There is simply no way to get rid of the heat produced by a faster CPU, if you can even get it to accept one and run (often the limitations are also in the BIOS.
That means the CPU will "speed step" down slower to avoid meltdown, achieving nothing.
