Hello

Im currently looking at buying a new processor, i have a LGA 755 mobo socket, 3ghz with ht. (800MHZ!!)

This processor is a bit laggy in some games, i was looking to upgrade without having to buy a new motherboard.
Do you think if i had to upgrade to a Intel P4 D 3.4ghz the gaming performance will be considerably better than my current cpu

thx for tolerating me

You should verify the board. Cortez is just a code name, not a model number, but it comes back to the D945GCZ board.

You can go here;
http://www3.sympatico.ca/gtopala/siw_download.html
and download SIW 1.67. This is an executable that does not have to be installed on your machine. Download it to your desktop, and launch the program.

When the program loads, click on motherboard in the left side pane. In the right pane it should show you the model.

Post back and verify the model as a D945GCZ board.
