I'm trying to automate the installation of .net 1.1 because I have a program that requires it, but it pops up a program compatibility assistant warning. I need to be able to disable this temporarily so the install doesn't get stuck on this pop up window. Everything I've found says to stop the service but that doesn't seem to stop it from happening. The message still comes up even though the service is stopped. Any help would be much appreciated.

The system requirements mentioned for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 are Windows 2000 and XP and Vista 32-bit/64-bit.

    Windows 7 32-bit/64-bit isn't mentioned.

Thanks Mr Davo, I will give the registry idea a shot.

I appreciate your input but I'm not asking about whether it's actually compatible. I can get it installed and working, that's not the problem. I'm just looking for a way to suppress the compatibility warning during the installation.
