I've drawn a little picture that I'd like to use an avatar, but it now needs to be a GIF(I think) to be able to be used.

I used to have a graphics program that would convert it, but can't remember what it is now.

Does anybody know of a free little utility that will convert it?

Looking in $Paint(the program that I used to create this bitmap), I don't see any "convert to",..or "save as" option to make it into a GIF.

It will make it into a Jpeg, but that's not what I need. I need to convert my bitmap into a GIF.

    An I missing something?

BTW, you can upload a jpg for your avatar. It only has to be a gif if you have animated it.

Randy is right, Irfanview is a very good, free program.

Just to let you know why you probably don't have the Gif option on the save in Paint.

Why does MS Paint provide these extra "Open" and "Save" options on some computer systems? It's because those systems have the necessary graphic filters to allow MS Paint to open and save JPG and GIF files. Where did they get these graphic filters? Some applications such as Microsoft Office, FrontPage, and Image Composer install these filters.

You can go to this link and download the necessary filters.
