Does anyone know of a solution that can provide me with a list or some kind of readout of installed programs that "call home"?

What do you mean by call home? Do you mean over dialup?

Programs that "call home" are programs that send information to the developer over your network connection. Such as version, date of purchase, name, serial or license information.

This has nothing to do with phone calls.

The best thing to do is look at your firewall for outbound connection{if you have a 3rd party firewall}
If you have 7 there are tools in the resource monitor to look at all connections

I dont remember but vista may have them as well

When ET wanted to Phone Home .. He couldn't use a POTS land line either ..
But most of us knew what he was trying to do

I use Online Armor firewall to limit apps that are network aware.
Most decent firewalls will.
Even the old Kerio 2.1.5 was good at that.
