For the difference in cost -- might as well go with the 60, trying to upgrade later my be more costly.

With a $500 price tag I think I'll pass.
Odds are, you'll see that drop between 100-150 before launch. The initial sticker shock is likely a marketing ploy to make the actual launch price seem much better.

He is just playing the part of the imbecile and doing a rather good job of it  :p

I am a big fan of Sony and the PlayStation franchise, but this time around Sony dropped the ball big time. None of the specs are anything like what they said it was going to be. I am disappointed in what looks like the end product and probably will not buy one unless they come down drastically in price.

Sony will have to take a big loss this year and hopefully make it up in game sales cuz they have an excellent release line up!!! Only wish is that they had made God Of War 2 for the ps3:( :( :( :( *sobs histerically*

Nonetheless they will still make a decent cut with all the people buying it for Christmas....
People think I'm crazy buying it right off launch but i guarantee the price wont drop that much after launch (at least for 6-12 months) and ill get to play assassins creed while everyone else twidles their thumbs on the poor xbox 360:D :D :D :D *laughs histerically*

I wouldn't be surprised if $500 ever saw the light of day.
Sony knows as well as any other console maker that they don't make money off of the system, they make it off the games.

I guess it costs like $400 to make a PS3

No Need For A 60gb, Thats Just Promoting Piracy!!!!
This brings to mind the urban legend of quotes:
"No one will need more than 637 kb of memory for a personal computer."

Back in the day I never thought I'd fill up a 50Mb drive. ;)

I kept my hard drive free space above 75% for the longest time and in the span of 4 days dropped it down to 50%

If thats true $300 dollars is a great selling price.

M$ lost $150 per Xbox they sold for the first year or two, games make the money, not the console.
