ok i have a genuineintel x86 family 15 model 0 stepping 10 processor. now i had something happen where hubby went to a site that then gave us a bug that we could not surf the net (about.blank) and so tried adaware...did not work came in german (he he) ok so i formatted my harddrive and started over...well now my processor seems to be having issues communicating with my monitor and will only give me two choices for colors 2 or 16...my monitor is a philips 107S ...also my comp is not working like it used to...much slower and no windows word ..only wordpad and not working right. i think that it is a driver issue but have not been able to find what i need and not sure i know what i am looking for is the right thing either. also have 4 things not working properly (pci controllers) are these the problems? anything would help...tried to go to microsoft something.com to get help and said i needed to download like 19 things to update but none seem to be what i am looking for...i have no clue...had someone helping me but his gf just found out some horrible news and now he is busy...anyhelp would be greatly appreciated!!!! thanks a bunch....Joy

You need a couple of things. When you reformatted you deleted the drivers for your motherboard which will include some of what you are missing. You need to go to the website of your system or motherboard manufacturer to get them. You also need the drivers for various components such as the video or sound card. These could be part of the motherboard or separate. Do you know? Not sure what happened to Word, did you reinstall it?

the drivers are the issue. but i do not know where to go to get them. when i searched the net for genuineintel there are 4500 links that came up and i looked through the first 150 or so and could not see anything that is my processor. so was hoping someone knew how to get it. also if i bought windows xp (which i plan on doing soon) will that help me find and fix the problem? and how do i find the information i need for the drivers for the video and sound? anyway sorry to be asking so much but have tried very hard to this on my own but not sure what the heck i am doing he he. thanks for you help

We don't know what pc you have, your'e not looking for drivers for you cpu your looking for drivers for your motherboard, so we need to know what mobo you have. As far a word not being there, you erased it when you formatted, it is a separate program from Windows. try downloading Belarc advisor or Aida32 to get your mobo info, hint, go to majorgeeks site to get Aida32

    First Name:
"genuineintel x86 family 15 model 0 stepping 10 processor" thats just one tiny part in your computer called the CPU - its like the engine in car. You do not need a driver for your CPU. You do however need drivers for the Video card, Sound Card, Chipset, and possible other devices that you have in the computer. If your computer is a brand name then you can go to their website and download the drivers. If its a custom computer then you will need to identify the parts individually and download the drivers. You should ahve also recieved CD's for the computer that have the drivers.

As for the missing applications you must also reinstall them. Microsoft Word is a seperate program from Windows. You should also have CD's for this and any other applications that came with the computer.

If you need help identifying components you can download Everest: http://www.lavalys.com/products/download.php?pid=1&lang=en&pageid=3

ok so how do i know where to find the info that tells me what i have so that i can find what i need...i bought this computer from a pawn shop and it has worked great for the past several months until now...the disk i got from them was not an original ( i think) to this computer and its components. thank you for the windows help..i will try to find what i need for word. and thank you for the site suggestion or intel..i sent them a message and hope to hear from them in a few days. not sure what i am doing just trying to not have to take it in...have spent many a dollars in the past few years every time this happens (100) and tired of having to have someone else do it...seems simple but maybe i am just not understanding something. anyway again thanks for all of your help.....Joy

If you look at the post from Triple6 there is a link to a web site to download a product that will identify what's in your system. It's called Everest. Just click on the link, download, install and run it. The info provided will tell you what sound card, video card etc. that you have. You can post back that info here for the help that you need.

    First Name:
Your Motherboard is made by ASUS but its not listed on their website, it was probably made for a custom use such as for use in a Brand name system; ie For a Compaq, HP, DELL, etc. Is your computer a brand name system?

Your motherbaord is this one: http://www.asus.com/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=P4T&Type=All
From this this I suggest you install the
    Intel(R) PRO/100+ Lan Adapter Driver & Utility V5.13 d driver.

Here are the Intel drivers for the motherboard's chipset: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scr...2&OSFullName=All+Operating+Systems&submit=Go!
From this site you need to install The INF Update Utility (1.) and the Performance Software - Application Accelerator (3.) You do not need to worry about any of teh other things listed.

For the sound you seem to have a seperate soundcard, ie not part of the motherboard. To find out the model in Everest got to Devices and Physical Devices and look for an Audio or Sound Device.

I'm pretty sure the slowness is a software issue, ie spyware, trojan, virus, something stealing resources. hopefully someone on the software or security TSG forums can help you get that squared away.
