My sons puppy bumped up against my cords. I have a laptop with XP connected to a 17" monitor. Now the monitor is stuck in diagnostic mode then quickly goes into power save. I have tried toggling keys when it's in diagnostic mode and no keys will move the cursor. I can't get into the control panel because the reason I am hooked up to the 17" monitor is because the screen went out on my laptop. I have disconncted and reconnected the plugs. Is there a key on the keyboard or way to change the setting without having to get into the control panel?
    Thanks for any advice!

Not sure how much advice we can give you without knowing the brands and model numbers of laptop and monitor involved.
