I recently purchased the windows 7 installation files for 32 and 64 bit from a very reputable person on ebay. I unzipped the files using his program and they checked out using crc and comparing them with the files on his download site. I saved them on my portable hard drive which is a verbatim 160gig usb. When I tried to burn the program onto a disc there were about 3 megabites missing after the burn. attempts at installation onto the new computer gave me the message: NTLDR is missing. That told me that not all the necessary stuff got to the disc thru the burning process.
My question is: how do you ensure that what you are burning all gets burned?
I would appreciate comments from anyone who has resolved this situation, or those who know, thanks.

Are you sure this is genuine?
I have never heard of MS allowing their software to be downloaded from a third party source
Did you burn the files as an ISO?
Did you boot from the dvd?

yes I called microsoft and they confirmed some people sell on ebay, I also confirmed that over two hundred people were satisfied with this persons ebay performance. I burned it as an iso file yes. I booted with it but got the 'NTLDR file missing' message. I have no problem booting with spotmau. I prepared my disc with seagate's prep for the hard drive.

You need to get a ISO burning program, such as ISOBurner.
But most of the BIG name including Roxio Creator should be able to burn the ISO to a DVD.

You also got a legal Key Code with this purchase?

Here is a similar sounding problem. It's Windows 7 Beta, but I'm pretty sure nothing in the boot process has changed in the final Windows 7.

And here is another similar sounding one, with a definite solution for that person.

The common theme in those and other articles I looked at seems to be "BIOS.:

I just got off the phone with microsoft and they advise me that the file I downloaded maybe corrupt. I can boot with spotmau but can't with the installation disk , we (microsoft tech and I ) tried a oem disk and it wont boot either so we arrived at the summation that the bios may also need adustment, and i dont have experience in the bios. Any suggestions? The mother board is a AOPEN i945Gm-PILF.
The hard drive is a seagate 7200 rmp 250 gigs.

Yes, people sell Windows on eBay, but I highly doubt a downloaded ISO is legal. What did you confirm with Microsoft? What number did you call? A seller's feedback does not determine the legality of a product. If a seller sold 200 people Windows 7 ISO downloads, that would pretty much confirm the fact that it's illegal. There's no legal means by which someone could come into possession of 200 Windows 7 keys they could sell to the public at a discount.

I have confirmed with microsoft the details of the purchase completely including the key for the iso. Microsoft has also supported a free support for the next sixty days on this but they just dont have the training for the bios setup. I am going to hold them to it because I spent several hours on the phone with their software specialist today without success. Now , I am still in a quandry, but some how, some where there will be a solution.
I tried resetting the bios by removing the battery from the mother board and reinstalling it but that didnt work either. now am going to contact the mother board seller to see if they have any answers.
one good thought, spring is on its way , and the days are getting longer.

Depending on where you bought your computer, the manufacturer site might have an updated BIOS version that you can download. For example, I needed to install a new BIOS for my Toshiba laptop before I can install the 64-bit Windows 7.

Sure would like to see the auction or who the user is on eBay who is selling them.

You sure the bios is set to boot from CD/DVD first?

This confuses me. There is no need to Zip an ISO file.

If you read back you will see I built this baby myself, the motherboard, case, power supply, hard drive , dvd drive all come from different directions. And I may proudly say I had xp pro running on it successfully, then reformatted the hard drive and tried to install w-7.
