I have tried the trial version and am impressed. When looking up sites to buy the software, the price varies from $69 to $580. Obviously some sites must be selling pirated copies. How can I verify that the program is legal short of paying so much from Adobe? Are there any legitimate versions that are international and less expensive?(y)

    Regards,
    Sid

I know that on some valid educational sites yo u can get the non-premium version of CS2 for about $300 legal but i haven't seen legal for anything less.

You might want to look at Elements 3.0.
For a hobbiest - it'll do just about all that Photoshop will do at ~ 1/10th the price.

It has some of the new tools found in CS2.

    Hola
If you plan to keep Photoshop or use it frequently, then I will sugest not to waste your time in cheap versions --by the way, it's illegal to buy them--
Photoshop is expensive, but worth it every penny.
    Good luck

no, the cheap ones you see for $20 or $60 may be illegal, but most Educational liscenses can be found for around $300-600. It's better than paying the thousand plus corporate price and is legal. You just have to check adobe's trusted sellers page or email them.

It'll depend what you want to do with the software. To 'legally' buy PSP with an Educational Licence you must qualify against Adobe's terms - which means you have to be in full-time education or work in an educational establishment (you have to supply proof of this). Also, the terms prevent you from using that software subsequently for commercial purposes and/or from reselling to anyone who doesn't also qualify under the terms for the Educational Licence.

So true for that and other software but they have other software too where you just have to have a school ID.

These are the ones that you have to show more and be taking the classes in.

Well I have gotten software from http://www.journeyed.com/home.asp but got it as a xmas gift from my sister so she was the one in school.
But they were the programs that all you needed was a school ID on.

:D Is that essentially different from using a keygen? :D

Anyway I have to agree with Uly7: if you're into it, it's worth every last penny of it.

    Cheers

What do you mean, I'm talking about legal sites that offer discounts to those in school, my mom being a teacher, me in highschool and my brother in school we all qualify for the educational discount so what makes everyone keep on relating that to an illegal keygen?

I really doubt Adobe cares much about selling Photoshop to anyone except businesses anyway...
