putting videos made on my webcam to dvd

I have put in every kind of cd/ dvd into my computer to burn training videos for my clients. I have come up empty each time. It can't read the dvd-rw and best buy said this is what i need. i am so frustrated. the computer is a sony vaio with windows xp. and when i went to the microsoft website it stated i needed a DVD authoring software??? do i really need this or is there another way? :confused:

What is the source of the video? If you're getting it from a video camera, you do indeed need authoring software. MovieMaker comes with Windows, and that's good for basic DVD creation.

yes. it is from a webcam saved into my videos via windows media player. so, where do i get one of these things?
