I have been downloading statements into quicken for a few months. Now I get an error message saying qif. file is incomplete or corrupt. What should be my next step?

Hiya

Which version of quicken do you have? Once we have that I can put a detailed search out for you.

Hi, I have Quicken 2000. I have been downloading 2 different company statements for a few months, but last month I started getting the "qif file incomplete or corrupted" message. I have not been able to download the files since. I tried to download into ofx, but Quicken would not import the ofx into the qif for me.
I'm confused!!!!

Okay

Do you ever get the message Error reading source file?

This is if you get a corrupt file:

http://www.intuit.com/support/quicken/docs/w_corruptdata.html

Ah, do you get this?

The log file C:\QUICKENW\DEISL1.ISU is not valid or the data has been corrupted

nuts, its for uninstalling:

http://www.intuit.com/support/quicken/2000/win/1802.html

Do you get this error on startup or when you are downloading the statements?

Okay, some people say that they expereince problems if they have the W95.MTX Virus. Have you scanned lately? Try here:

http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

Let us know if you have any viruses, and if not, have a look at some of those links.

I downloaded the PC-cillin 2000. The program found no viruses.

All I get is the qif.file incomplete or corrupt message when I try to download the bank statements these past 2 months. Everything else appears to work ok. I would hate to have to type in all the statement info instead of just downloading. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions. Thank you!

Hiya

I have had a look and found this. See if you are doing this the same way:

This is for Exporting Quicken data

http://www.intuit.com/support/quicken/docs/w_export.html

and importing:

http://www.intuit.com/support/quicken/docs/w_import.html

Basic troubleshooting to correct data file damage:

http://www.intuit.com/support/quicken/2000/win/6148.html

Advanced troubleshooting to repair data file damage:

http://www.intuit.com/support/quicken/2000/win/6147.html

I couldn't find anything on incomplete. The reason why I have given some links is that there is quite a bit of reading in each. Most go on about the export and import procedure.

Hope this helps. If not, let me know

Regards
