quavering distorted sound

    AMD K6-2 450 cpu, 128 ram, 30Gb HDD, 32 mb TNT2 agp card, isa sound card 16X/48X DVD rom, CDRW, all pci slots are filled, network, tv card etc

    When playing DVD the sound is distorted, but the video play back is great with Power DVD. I get the same sound problems with mp3 and some games but not all games. CD playback is no problem. This happens with all players winamp, real, mediaplayer, etc

    have you tried going to control panel, multimedia, audio, advanced, and set the hardware acceleration to full and the sample rate conversion a little lower

    Sorry those are in 2k, my win98 partition rolled over and still haven't got it running

    I believe you have about the same options in 98, etc
