I just recently got a Sony Vaio and it has two connections for internet a dial-up phone line and a ethernet connection.....What I was wondering was the following:

What is ethernet? How does it work? Do I need to buy something to make it work? Does it work with AOL 9.0? If yes, do I have to change my AOL 9.0 from dial-up to something else?

Thanx in advance to anyone who responds!!!!!!

Ethernet is a network connection. If you purchase broadband and an Ethernet capable modem, you'd connect it that way. Yes, you need broadband to use the Ethernet to connect to AOL, they have a broadband service.

Ethernet - A very common method of networking computers in a LAN using copper cabling . Ethernet will handle about 10,000,000 bits-per-second and can be used with almost any kind of computer.
