When you use the program HIJACK THIS ....... when you do a SCAN are you supposed to be connected to the internet or not? Just wondering.... I want to make sure I get the proper scan.

    Thanks in advance

    DAVID :)

    Hi BigDaveinNJ ,

You can scan a Hijack This log while online , but when it comes time to fix any problems you should log offline and close all browser windows , run the fix , shutdown and reboot , and run a follow-up scan.

Hi, Just so you know in case you don't-
Most things that the HJT scan shows are normal, or things you use and need....it is not an automated remover, you have to know what to check and Fix...which is why you see the logs posted in about all our forums here at TSG and other forums...you need to have them reviewed by the experts- unless you completely up to date, and very knowledgable about what is malware/trojan worms/spyware/adware etc. EDIT: jbredmound's posted link to HJT guide: http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/#introduction

    That may help you some.
Spybot Search and Destroy and AdAware 6.0 are two of the most popular more automated tools, and very good at what they do....I see an ever increasing number of these tools arriving at sites for download- but have not used any of the others, yet.
