Whenever I go to a site to sign up for something I have problems seeing the IMAGE they want you to VERIFY. Sometimes it is barely readable and I have to re-register like 4 or 5 times before it accepts my sign-up.

this can be a pain in the but. I don't remember it being this cloudy in the past. It's definitly not my monitor or my eyes because everything else is very clear.

Any tips about dealing with this? Why is it sooo hard to get the letters / numbers right sometimes?

Some websites are just harder to read than others, look for a link that says "Can't See This Image" or "Having trouble seeing this image", or something of that effect. Some sites are great with this sort of problem. I know when you are trying to reset your password for .NET passport and you can't see the image, you can actually download a *.WAV file and it reads a word to you, and you type it in. But yeah, look for those links, or contact the site.

The images are usually deliberately distorted or unclear, to prevent automated OCR software from recognising them and "harvesting" the site.
