QUESTION: Connecting 2 PC's

If I want pc A to connect to pc B. Why do I have to create an account on computer B that matches with A ?

What's the reason behind this ? Shouldn't it just connect if they have the same workgroup/name or domain, file sharing is enabled and the Drive / folder is shared ?

Anyone

What OS? With Windows XP Home, or Windows XP Pro with Simple File Sharing, you can proceed without any concern for accounts.

With Windows XP Pro with default file sharing and with Windows 2000 Pro you get to take advantage of lots of complex permissions, including accounts and passwords.

I've just seen this issue before where you create accounts on different PC's with the same user name and password and it works. But Like John said about using the guess account is an idea I never thought of.
