When using Windows essentials to scan and update my computer the activity window displays the files being scanned. It goes pretty fast. Near the end of the string in the name is a caret character. It looks like a little square that contains what looks to be Asian letters.

What is the meaning of this square in the file name?
If I wanted to delete a file name containing this caret (character) what key would you use to do that?

Do you mean Microsoft Security Essentials? Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?

The print screen is pretty quick too. Hit the Prtscrn button the the keyboard and then paste what you are seeing.
