Hello,

I am considering buying the Canon IP4500 printer. Does the IP4500 force you to have all the ink tanks to be at some level in order to print? I mostly print black and white, and I still want to print if the color tanks are empty. Also, this printer forces you to buy Canon ink. Does refilling the ink tank reset the ink monitoring software?

Thanks.

I have just purchased the IP4500 and I must so far I am very impressed with it.
Here in the UK you can purchase chipped non Cannon ink ( have not tried them yet though)
If you are just using black ink then this printer is kinda wasted as it is an excellent photo and cd /dvd printer.
I was also amazed at its ability to print on both sides of the paper :D
I have had other printers with individual tanks and when one is empty just change it, I assume this printer will be the same
