I'm thinking about reinstalling XP sometime, but I was also thinking about a Linux distro to install as well. I run a 6 month old laptop with a 40GB hard drive. I was thinking of either Red Hat or Mandrake. I was wondering if it was better to use the XP installer to partition my hard drive, then install XP first, or if it would be better to do Linux first. I'm curious about the advantages of either of those distros too. This is really my first time with Linux. Thank you.

if your not sure if you want to use linux, try one of the many LiveCD's (linux that will run on the CD, without installing it) out there.. Knoppix is one.. and just searching google, I found out that Slackware has one too.. http://slax.linux-live.org/
