Whats a good programming language for a beginner? I've messed around w/ Python, but that is one of oldest/is the oldest type of code.....nearly rendering it obsolete. One of my friends whos really good w/ this type of thing recommended some sort of Java lang....but I dunno. Thanks.

    Hi Optimissed,

Have a try in Java. Your friends will certainly help you. You may find documentations on line, free development tools like Eclipse, JBuilder (learning version is free) and the Java runtime is free.

java is quite a good one and can I suggest jEdit it is a great editor actually created in java, the best i've found with code folding and even support for fox keywords (very few have that) not that you need that bit.

I wouldn't mind leaning a bit more java myself...
