Questions about timestamps and sorting order of forum posts

A relatively newbie here, needing some navigation help for the forums.

I clicked on the Hardware link on this page, expecting to view the most recent posts:
https://forums.techguy.org/

It took me to what appears to be an archive:
https://forums.techguy.org/forums/hardware.19/

How can I view the most recent posts in a forum?

While on that page, I searched for "hdd error" in the hardware forum, and got this:
https://forums.techguy.org/search/1...t&c[child_nodes]=1&c[nodes][0]=19&o=relevance

The timestamps of the search results are newer than those in the archive, and are not sorted in either an ascending or descending order.
How can I sort the search results in an ascending or descending order?

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to TSG,

Regarding your first question, that is the correct Harware forum. What you see at the top is an archive of older posts but you have to click on "Archive: Hardware" to actually visit that forum.

Just below that are a series of ten sticky posts that are pinned to the top of the forum because they give important tips and advice on common problems and other things that are helpful to many people. You will see a "pin" icon in the middle portion that indicates they are pinned.

You need to scroll down far enough to get past the ten sticky posts and then you will be able to see new threads listed.

In order to get your search results in order of date you can change the default option in your profile by accessing "Preferences" then go down to "Search options" and change it from the default value to "Most recent".

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
