For months, I used Quick Link Mobile to utilize my cell phone, via a USB serial port cable, as a modem. OS is Win XP, phone is an LG, software and cable are marketed through Verizon, manufactured by Smith Micro. My drive crashed last winter and I had to reinstall everything on a new drive. Now, the software cannot fund the phone. I have been in conversation with Smith Micro and Verizon tech support for two months. No advice other than uninstall and reinstall.

When I use the "add new hardware option" to add the phone, it finds it on COM4, and a signal is sent through the cable. When I launch the QLM software it initiates a setup process that hangs up when it tries to find the phone.

The device manager shows the USB - serial drivers as operating property.

I wonder about some kind of IRQ conflict. How do I track something like that down?

I am on the road a lot and this connection is essential to me!
