Quickbooks- basic- partial credit card payments

Hello-

Usually, I pay the full credit card (bill) and expense out each purchase. But, have made partial payments for a few months- couldn't swing the full pymt. This led to an expense of the items purchased, AND the left over amount from previous month needing to be counted in the SPLIT to equal the total bill due. Now I have a roll over of left over money from 3 months that is compounding..
Question: How do I expense out the total bill when there is a Previous Balance?
