To back up the quicken data files from our laptop that used XP, I copied the Quicken 2003 data files from their location on the C drive and pasted them into a folder on an external hard drive. We did not back up the files to the external hard using the Quicken program.
    Our laptop hard drive died.

We have a new laptop with Windows 7 operating system and have reinstalled Quicken 2003. However, we cannot open the copied Quicken data files stored on the external hard drive. We get an error "Cannot read file" or "Can't Open File".

What can we do to read these Quicken data files? They have significant financial information that we need to access & update for our business.
