When I opened my Quicken Deluxe 2015 today I got a pop-up saying that the program wanted to add "update/fix??? (something like that) and did I approve. I didn't know what it was and so I said no.
Now I think it might have been a new update "patch" for my Quicken Deluxe 2015. Was it?
I looked in the Help/About and I have Release R5 (24.1.5.11). Is that an old release? And if so, how can I get the newest update? (What is the latest update?)
    I am using Win7.

I just checked online and many people said they downloaded the patch and then they had problems with their Quicken program. Therefore I might have been right in denying the download.
I notice there are two downloads
"QW2015R6Patch.exe" and the "Mondo" download. One is 40MB and the other is 60MB.
Does anyone use Quicken Deluxe 2015 and have you downloaded the patch?
#1- Does anyone know what I should do?
#2- If I ever had to delete Quicken (which I have used for years, but lately Quicken has not been to reliable, especially Turbo Tax), is there a good alternative to Quicken that I could use. Where I could input bank interest, doctor bills, etc., and then create reports for yearly IRS tax reports?

The MONDO patch is the one to go with. I installed it 2 days ago and it works good. As far as a replacement, the only competition I've ever seen for Quicken was Microsoft Money. Unfortunately, its no-longer supported by Microsoft and is severely outdated.

    Thank you all.

I read on a Quicken forum " at this point, I would suggest you not accept the R6 update and await an R7 update that may be underdevelopment. "

(That R7 update might be as problematic as this R6 update.)

And so I am, once again, unsure of what to do. Quicken is certainly making it difficult for people using their products lately. Never had these problems before.

I downloaded the Mondo patch but now don't know whether to install it or not???

Really only you can make that decision. The same applies for any software update. You should look at the release notes and see what it fixes or addresses and then decide if you need it. As far as I can see with a quick glance there are no security issues (read the whole thing to be sure) and if that's the case and you don't have an issue with anything that it fixes then perhaps you don't need it for now and can wait until issues are ironed out. Most likely R7 will not be error free either at the beginning.

They did state that an earlier problem with the R6 installation has been fixed (but I don't know if there are other issues) so if you do decide to go ahead with the Mondo patch be sure to get the latest version of it (delete the one you have and grab a new one before installing).

BTW can you provide a link to the reference you made above about waiting for R7 because I couldn't find that statement with Google.

I read that thread and the other one that you said was closed and I do not see anywhere that someone says what you quoted. They merely said that if you are unsure then you can hold off if you wish. No one said that they recommend you don't install it at least not that I can see.

Anyway, as they say, you can hold off for a bit and follow the thread over there closely to monitor any further issues.

It appears some of the posts are not showing when you look at that thread. I signed-in and then I saw the post I was referring to:

I have never seen a website so difficult to navigate. I guess you have to have an account to see all of the posts.

Anyway, like I said, you have to evaluate whether you need want to go ahead with this update. No one can predict what will happen if you try to install it on either of your machines.

Yes indeed. Many of my friends have found Quicken very 'difficult' to 'deal with.' Lately, their programs are becoming more and more problematic and their responses to questions are quite confusing.
Instead of telling us if a problem has been solved, they tell us to continue checking their forum to find a 'possible' solution.

FYI: Just received the following from Quicken Forum.

Apparently, they have 'screwed-up' again! Hope this reply will help others who might be thinking of updating to R6.

    Good afternoon,

I understand how the situation can be frustrating. We have removed the R6 patch from the servers to prevent further issues. To revert to a previous release of Quicken, please uninstall the program from the Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program. Then reinstall from your original install media (download or CD).

During the reinstall, Quicken will automatically update to the R5 release. You should no longer experience any issues after reverting to the R5 release, but if you do, please contact our support team so they can help you directly: http://www.quicken.com/contact-us

If you are currently on R5 (Help > About Quicken to verify) no action should be required.

    Best of luck
    Colin

I seen that post also. I have R6 installed on my Win 7 machine, and its still working OK, But I have not installed it on my Win 10 machine. I went thru a large number of the problems on that forum, and was amazed at the large volume of problems. Intuit has some serious internal issues. The problem is they have gotten too big, have no competition and became complacent. They won't be the first company to suffer due to bad decisions.
