I hope you can give me a go around for this problem. I re-installed quicken 98 on our new xp computer. You can only use it 10 times without registering it. I tried to register online and it keeps giving me an error, so I called the 800 number to register it by phone. I got all these prompts, and basically was told they don't register the 98 version anymore and I would have to purchase a new version. Is there a way around this registration or a way I can make it think that I registered it? It was registered on our old win 98 computer.

Here is a shot in thev dark, but if you still have access to the version you installed on another machine, perhaps you could copy the "registered" version from that machine and install it on your new XP computer instead of using the Quicken CD and trying to re-register? Anyway, it is a thought.

You can't copy a program like Quicken from one computer to another. There are DLLs and other files in the Windows directory and registry keys that can't just be copied. The software has to be installed.

I used Quicken 98 a while ago and don't remember registering it. What kind of error are you getting?

The modem registration failed and I called the phone line and it said they no longer registered quicken 98 and that I would have to buy a new edition. A friend of mine gave me the answer and I will post it here in case someone else needs this.
