quicktime probs

hi,
i have a problem with my quicktime player. i try to play .avi files but it says that it does not have the needed things to play the files. what do i need to download to get it to play .avi files. i have many different codecs downloaded also, my other players play the videos but they play too fast.
if anyone could help i'd be greatful.

Hiya

To play .avi's, you need Windows Media Player. There will be a version 6.4 somwhere on your system, probably under c:\program Files\Windows Media Player.
Its mplayer2.
