    Hiya

You say that they're only played via Quicktime. Can you tell me if their extenstions are mp3, by rightclicking on one and choosing Properties.

Also, are these the embedded type, as in embedded into the website?

    Regards

yes they are mp3 files. when u click them in the web page, it automatically loads quicktime into the page....but i can right click and save them....which is what i have done.

the plan is to use them as email notification triggers or whatever, but obviously they wont play without quicktime....

thanks for trying to help me....much appreciated.

    Hiya

Are you wanting to convert them from mp3 to wav files? Thats the usual form for any sounds in Windows.

Are you 100% sure that they downloaded as mp3 files? I mean, from the rightclick and Save As bit. If not, and as they were embedded files in the web site, we may need to do some work. I got something off the newsgroups, but the people I try this with have only tried it on mpg, not Quicktime ones. Need a guina pig. :p

Just doublecheck by seeing if you can play the mp3's offline.

For the conversions of mp3 to wav, have a look at this:

i can play them offline, no problems.....but they only play at normal speed and quality when in qucktime.

i know how to convert normal files, i can use musicmatch for that, but the problem i am havin is that if i open the mp3 files in any othe rprogram that quicktime, they play slowly.

i hope i have explained myself, sorry to be a pain in the arse.

    thanks for ure time again....

Have you tried converting them to a wav file? They may play okay, as wav is a sound file.

i tried your idea, eddie.....but to no avail..they still play slowly.

im guessing that they are made up in the sort of way that prevents them from playing in any other software.

thanks for your help though, if u get any moments of inspiration and can think of a solution, id appreciate it...until then though, looks like my jayce and the wheeled warriors theme is only gonna be a quicktime file....

    cheers again eddie.

    Hiya

Sifting thru the mails slowly :p

Now, are you still having problems with these mp3's? If so, can you give me a link to one of the sites where you download from?

Also, curious if its all mp3's. Can you go here and see if any download as normal mp3's:

    http://www.mp3.com/

If they still downlaod as qicktime, and I don't mean Save As, then we'll look at the properties a little closer.

    Regards

these are the files im trying to get to play in anything other than quicktime....

if possible, conversion to a WAV file would be best as i can then use them as email triggers hehe.

    thanks mr eddie! lol.

Well, just been to that site, and mine download as mp3's. Start playing in Windows Media Player.

Lets have a look at some things.

Go to Windows Explorer, then Tools | Options.

    File Types tab

Scroll to mp3, and click on it. What does it say it opens with?

    Okay

So, you're gonna use WMP now. I assume the Quicktime has stopped. If not, we may have to try something else. If it has, then I'll get this one marked Solved

Bit tired, got the ol' hangover :(

I take it you've converted them to .wav files.

Now, if you copy them to this folder:

    c:\Windows\media

Then, you will have to dissacociate the current wav for Notification.

Go to Control Panel | Sounds. Click on the New Mail Notification under Windows. Scroll the menu bar using the arrows, until you find your wav file.

    Apply and OK.
