I have a Compaq Presario 3200 with 256 MB Ram. I have another computer (HP Pavilion A610Y) that I dont use as much and i want to swap RAM because it has 512 MB. The Compaq has 256 DDR SDRAM PC3200, and the HP has 512 DDR SDRAM PC2100. If I swap will both computers still work? Any help would be appreciated.

you dont wanna swap that ram cause your pc uses pc 3200 your old pc uses pc2100 it will degrade your pcs performance. And depending on your cpu in your current pc it might not even run with the older ram.

your ram you have runs at 400mhz the stuff you wanna switch to runs at 266mhz. Im lookin up you cpu specs to see what fsb it runs at to see how bad it will hurt you.

ya tats wats best to do your cpu runs on a 333mhz fsb i just looked it up so your pc3200 is only running 333mhz anyway you could buy a pc2700 chip to match that one and it would work. Reason you dont wanna use the 2100 is you would drop the cpu bus to match your ram bus so then your cpu would be running a fsb of 266 instead of 333.
