Will PC-2100 133 ddr and 266 ddr mix, or do I need all of 1 kind?

usually they will mix, but both will run at the slower speed. Sometimes you will find that two brands will not gowell together, or soe motherboards will not work well with the mixed speeds.

PC2100 DDR is actually 133mhz FSB, with an effective clock of 266.

So really as long as he is buying PC2100 or DDR 266, he should be fine, barring he isn't buying ECC, or buffered RAM.
