I'm kind of computer shopping and I was just wondering, there is 64 sdram, 128 sdram, 256 sdram, but when it gets up to 512 it goes it ddram. What is the difference between the sd ram and the dd ram or is there any?

SDRAM is the older of the two. Made for pentium and early amd chipsets.

DDR is the newer faster memory (PC 1600/PC 2100, ETC) for use with the new amd chipsets and processor's. And some New Intel chipsets will run it with P4's.

    Non technical

The type of RAM doesn't change with the size of the chips. You can buy 512MB SDRAM chips as well as 512MB DDR RAM chips. They're two, independent types of memory.
