    hey guy,
    I'm looking at buying a Asus Crosshair Iv extreme, and putting some Crucial 4gb x2 Ddr3 1866 Mt/s (pc3-14900) Cl9 @1.5v Ballistix Tactical Tracer Ram and maybe x4 at a later date in there and trying to find out if this will work? the cpu will be a AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE 3.2GHz Socket AM3 and from what i can find this cpu only goes up to 1333mhz Ram? so im not 100% sure this will work?

    First of all, if you want to know IF a given ram chip is going to work, check the qvl list for your mb.
    Here is the support page for your mb;

    Note just because a ram chip does not appear on the list, does not mean it will not work. It means it was never tested and found to work. If you want to be sure that you do not encounter problems, then always go with ram on the list.
