Last week , stuck in a mandatory meeting ...HIPAA made easy..OXYMORON@!!.HIPAA is the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act passed in 1996..We were reviewing the new software program that would ease diagnostic as well communication time frames...Administrative Simplification ...Halfway through snores could be heard in the back of the auditorium and I wanted to bang my head on the seat in front of me to keep awake ...Monotone voice , inept presenter with endless slides and then the lawyers took the stage to speak of legalities...UGHGUHGGUGH!!!

This week ..."Documentation Integrity Reception " hosted by Health Info Management and run by the QDC coordinators...UGHGUGHG!! The coffee was the only decent thing there ...So I am standing outside discussing the futility of these "talks"... (Maybe cause we "Aren't TALKING"...No input )...with a few residents,NP's and PA's...

1) We decided we needed a more interdisciplinary approach with access to Pharmacology Dept..to discuss new drugs and not with drug reps..a weekly meeting ...

2) Admin needs to work one On hands shift in the ER, SICU , CCU and lab...They are cutting qualified people replacing them with newbies and doing a floating on call that is ignorant time management ...Patients are stacked like cord wood in a holding pattern , waiting to be admitted..

Yeah..Yeah ... If we ran the world... young and full of ourselves...

So an hour later during the Q/A , I stood up and raised a few questions for future meetings and I turned to my "fellow conspirators " like ...Right ??? for support ....

SILENCE!!! yikes...Looked at the stage at least 8 stared back ...Not happy faces...My "teammates avoiding my eyes...I might as well have mooned the whole crowd..my arse was out there flapping in the wind ...


I was seeing visions of my future ..Hair nets , rubber gloves and asking ....Would you fries with that?? Nope...I wasn't fired ..much worse ...They appointed me as the student liaison to the Committee ...Shite..so my "Teammates" will be sleeping in , studying ..having a life and I will be smacking my forehead on the table trying to stay awake in meetings...

You know how your grans always told you to wear clean underwear in case you get in an accident and have to go to the hospital...(I always muttered under my breath..If I got in an accident I promise you by the time I had to go to the hospital

1) they wouldn't be clean anymore and

2) please let that be the only concern ..


Smack to the back of the head.. every time ...


Now , she asks ...Are you wearing underwear that won't embarrass the family when we visit you in the hospital??

My response...Grans , with all that I am and you aren't embarrassed yet, I don't think Kiss My Irish Arse printed upon my body is going do the trick!!!!

No smacks... just a wooden spoon to the seat of the pants..when I am not looking..

Hi SookyLu, Shea, AZ, bassetman, where are all the others?

Been busy, but spent a bit of time in my garden, I had to put mothballs around each plant to try to keep the ground-hogs from munching on my tulips and hyacinths!

Claude has been free of cigarettes for more than 3 weeks now, and I am very proud of him.
He has difficulty being comfortable about not having the sheep, and he mentioned that this was not a good time to stop smoking.
Well, I gave him a gentle speech about how he did make the proper choice and that as soon as he can start working in the fields he will be fine, because right now he is very bored.
So when the time comes in May for working with his farm machinery, I am sure he will be fine.

I worked 22 years in Electro-diagnostics, and as you know, they end up in ER a lot. They had a cartoon up saying Ma'am your son will be fine and we'd like to say he is wearing the cleanest underwear we've ever seen!
