Salutations!

I have a random beeping noise coming from inside my computer! It happens daily, for no specific reason I can think of... it sometimes beeps when Im away from the computer.
I say inside the computer, because I have the volume muted and I still hear it loud and clear, like a warning beep.

I searched a few posts already, but cant seem to find a solution. Someone mentioned it might be the fan. Can someone be so kind to run me through the HOW TO turn off the Smart Fan thingy (hehehe...Im a beginner...I really dont know what Im talking about lol)

I think Im suppose to go into BIOS and turn something off, but I dont even know how to do that. I follow instructions very well, so if you could talk me through it, I can give it a go without having to take it to someone.

Really appreciate any help :)

That beep is your internal speaker beeping. Are any programs running while toy are away from the computer? Any other problems? Trying to imagine what would be causing it to BEEP.

Running, um...well I'm on my laptop most of the day, so several programs are running.
Initially, Norton is running at all times.
Then, I have Titan Poker going most of the day (I am a fulltime poker player:D)
Other than that, I check Outlook Express about 10 times a day.
There are no other irregularities that are visible.

Thank you for helping me.

Exit all of your programs. This includes Norton, poker, outlook, everything. Even right-click on and eit and memory resident programs that are running as little icons on your taskbar. Let it sit then and see if it beeps.

A little bit of a strange problem.

You mentioned it's a Laptop, the beeps could be a warning it's getting hot inside or similar, try downloading the Manaul if you don't have one already and see if this is covered in it.

If you need help with that post the make and model.

Thank you for the advise. I think its overheating too. The manual is like my bible, so unfortunately, it was one of the first things I did. Couldnt find a mention of any beeping, although Im going to go back and re-look (just in case I missed it). In case you're bored (lol) and want to have a peek, my laptop model is a Travelmate 4200. :)

Cheers managed!

Yep, went directly to acer and DL'ed the user manual. Not much help at all. I did manage to find the ENet Management Manual, which is a feature with the Travelmate series. I'll try and set that up and see if the wireless through that works.

Till next time...
