I don't know where to begin. I'll begin when it began, actually a few weeks ago....

I was having issues with the computer temorarily freezing, and it restarted for NO reason. I could be in SWG, desktop, IE, you name it..bam restarts no warning. Fortunately, I got that fixed. I ran spyware and virus checks, it did find spyware but no viruses. I believed it was a environment file because it had $$$ in it, so disabled it and no restarts since.

    BUT....

I am STILL temporarily freezing to this day. By that I mean it happens roughly every...15-20 minutes...or so, it freezes for a minute then goes back to whatever it was doing. I have tried everything I can think of, so I'll bring it here. I want to do everything possible, without having to wipe my hardrive, thats a ton of work i want to avoid. Note: Also, this doesnt happen parallel with the freezing but I also get random blue screen errors. All of them I can "click a key to go back to windows", but nevertheless they have to be part of the problem but I don't know how to fix it.

    I've tried...
    Virus check--Clean
Spyware check--Cleaned, every so often I get a cookie or something but immediatly taken care of
    Standard scandisk-Done
    Defrag system-Done
went through MSCONFIG for files that shouldn't start up with my computer-Done

Also, I do have windows ME..any other info feel free to ask if its needed.

THANK YOU for any help you can offer

Create a folder in C:\ drive - call it HJT. Go here and download Hijack This to your new folder. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

Run the program and post a copy of the log here. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIX ANYTHING YET.

Somebody will take a look at it and advise you from there.

Ya, ME is a terrible version of windows...I'd get XP but I'm planning on buying another computer this summer, so it'd be pointless to get XP now on this one.

The virus scan came up clean, still having the problem. If you have anything to suggest, feel free..otherwise thanks for trying.

    Hi Geral,

    Two things to check out:
Run a full scandisk in DOS, it could be that the free space count is incorrect.
Scandisk should pick this up, and offer to fix it. If so, do it.
(no, i have no idea what it means)

And, the power supply. This is a very likely culprit. They are not expensive
fortunately. Here is one for seven and a half quid. Just up the road from me.

Estimate the wattage you need before buying. In particular the current you
want on the lower voltage lines.

Of the two, the supply is the more likely.
I mention the other cos its easy to rule out.
(i assume you can get to DOS ok ... )

Best of luck with it, John :)

Hey, thanks for trying. I ran the scandisk in DOS and it went smooth with no errors, believe it or not.

Whats the other thing have to do with this? Remeber, its temporary freezing for a few seconds-minutes..every 15 or so minutes..
