I am getting periodic reboots and am struggling to identify the route cause.
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix Z390-F Gaming
BIOS: AMI 1302 dated 02/09/2019 (there is an update for system stability that I am looking into)
CPU: Intel Core i5 9600k
RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2666MHz (2 x 16GB)
Graphics: 8GB NVidia GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
C Drive: 512Gb Adata SX6000PNP M.2 SSD
D Drive: 1TB Seagate Barracuda SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 7200RPM, 64MB CACHE
OS: Windows 10 Home - 10.0.10942 build 19042
PSU: Corsair RM650
All drivers are patched and up to date.
I run ASUS AI Suite 3 and no indications of any issues there, temps are all fine and power is rock solid on all rails all the time.
The BSOD / Reboot has only ever happened when the system not in use, never had an issue when it is being used. Only know something has happened as it will be at the logon screen when I return to it.
Event View shows nothing that the time of the shutdown but shows the same errors etc on reboot:
System Log The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000001e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff8053d0521e6, 0x0000000000000000, 0xffffffffffffffff). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 3082fee2-634c-4915-be7a-57c450c19419.

CRITICAL - The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
ERROR - The previous system shutdown at 12:46:54 on 06/04/2021 was unexpected.
I do have a DUMP file but its 3.2GB, I have moved that out of the normal save area so if it happens again will hopefully get a smaller file.
Since the system only reboots when the system is sleeping, there are a few things I would look at;
1 Pull out your video card and use the onchip video. See if you have the same problem
2 I did not see where you ran a ram test. I would test with both memtest and memtest86. When you use memtest86, CPU Selection, choose Round Robin. Any failure on more than one core is bad ram or motherboard slot. Failures on only one core is bad CPU.
This is a somewhat convoluted method of testing cpu cores
Well, I doubt it is a processor or motherboard problem. Just wondering if you would have the same problem running a linux live usb? If you do not have the same issue under linux, that pretty much points at a software and or driver problem. Perhaps a resident program loading at startup?
If you do not want to use a linux live usb, another option would be to make an image of your system as it is now. Once done, clean install windows deleting all partitions on the system disk. Install just basic drivers ie chipset inf and just the nvidia driver [driver only and not all of the other stuff the driver loads] See if it reboots. If it still does, it takes all of 5~10min to restore your image and be right back where you started.
If it does not reboot, then you know it is a driver and or some software problem.
I looked at the adata site to see if there were any firmware updates for your drive. There is just about no info [other than marketing hype] on the drive. If there is an adata toolbox or utility, are you running the latest firmware for the drive?
Hi crjdriver, I believe NVIDIA is the driver that is probably causing conflict on the OP's system. I have been observing allot of members experiencing issues on systems with NVIDIA graphics technology. I have an older Dell gamer system that contains NVIDIA GEO Force graphics and it caused the same issues. I was able to resolve this issue by disabling NVIDIA altogether. NVIDIA tends to conflict with Intel or other graphics drivers and frequently causes system crashes and other issues.
The reason I am almost positive that it's definitely the OP's NVIDIA driver causing problems is that I have a two in one touch screen by the same manufacture, and I have absolutely no issues and it does not contain NVIDIA technology. The newer two in one touch screen is three years old and still works like new.

Ill have a look into this but not convinced, I have always used NVidia GPUs (for 30 years or more) on Intel systems and never come across this before. Its only a minor annoyance as it is a rare occurrence and only when the system is not in use.
I am using the Intel i5 9600k that does not have an integrated iGPU on the CPU so there are no other graphics drivers to conflict with
Hi Tanis, It must be a hit and miss than. It is possible that you may have a defective NVIDIA driver that malfunctions at a level that is barely noticeable but may worsen over time or worsen if other graphics drivers are used with NVIDIA. I observed many members of this forum experiencing issues and most of them have NVIDIA installed.
I have never had a problem with nvidia cards either [however now both personal systems use AMD cards] I always do a custom install and install only the nvidia driver and not all of the other bloatware that comes with the driver ie gforce experience, updater, etc.
Even the AMD driver now enrolls you in the AMD experience. You can however disable this "Feature" AMD used to offer a bare driver on the download site however this has been gone for a while now.
It would really be nice if both video chipset mfg made a basic driver available for download on their support site.
