Can anyone help me?
I have a faxing program called RapidCom on my US Robotics 56k voice fax modem, and I can't get it to stop dialing 1 before the number. I've tried to change it at the setup and preferences boxes but to no avail.
Yours truly frustrated

Hiya

It seems that most people cannot find an answer:

Which version do you have, and do you know your Product code for your modem? From what I have gathered, its on the bottom of the modem, as a serial number.

I bet you're Win98. Apparently, it works well for 95

BTW, any one knows why under win98 3com/USR's RapidComm (smith Moicro) program
does not work. Looks like it always dials a "1" before any number entered
which basically gives me a voice reply from the phone company telling me that I
should not dial 1 for local calls.

All the settings are correctly configured and I use Microsoft fax to test that
the modem actually works, therefore it points to Rapidcomm is the culprit.

The Rapidcomm program was working fine under win95.

Ah, try this:

try unchecking the "use *country* code"
(that's the "one") option, if it exists in your program, and
entering the one manually in the area code field as actually
required. This works in RapidComm, at least. A third variation
would be to set up a second "calling location" with a "one"
dialing prefix and selecting it as required. Fool around--
there's bound to be a way

Well, there's a bit to read, but maybe someone else has an answer.
