I want to upgrade to Windows 7 by using an upgrade pack but I'm having problems with vista so i want to make sure they're sorted out before i upgrade. The problem is that it has problems when starting up after shutting down, saying things are missing and showing bluescreens but I've always managed to start it up in the end. I understand the way to fix this is to re-install it which i have a few questions about. I want to completely format the system, will reinstalling do this? There are some files I want to keep, if i put them on a seperate internal hard drive which doesn't have the OS installed on it will i keep them. And since i have the code for my Vista, can i use another vista cd instead of the one i had as i'm not sure where it is. Thanks in advance for any help
