all i am trying to do is re-install win98. when everything is done, i get a vmm32.vxd missing/unable to load message. i can only load up the computer in safe mode then. there is nothing on the computer. i was trying to perform a clean boot but there is nothing in the autoexec.bat files or winstart.bat files. i tried to manually extract from the cdrom but it is disabled under safe mode. i am desperate. i have crashed the hard drive several times and tried to re-install hoping that something would give.
thanks

I'm not positive, but I think I ran across that once before. Try deleteing everything out of your network properties and then reboot. If that doesn't work you might also go into regedit, make a backup copy of your registry, then run the find and look for that file and delete the reference to it.
